Accomplishments in My First Term

Safer Streets and Public Safety

  • Initiated the Drive Slow Redondo campaign executed by RBPD.

  • Added crossing guards to Felton and Grant, 

  • Added two traffic enforcement police officers to RBPD to achieve safer streets. 

  • 14 all-way stops to make our residential streets safer for families.

  • Added speed radar feedback signs on Artesia Blvd.

  • Bulb outs added to every intersection on Grant Avenue.

  • Safety improvements at Artesia and Rindge, with more coming.

  • Directed launch of Robust E-Bike education campaign lead by RBPD.

  • Built up and enhanced locally-controlled RBFD.

 

Beautification and Quality of Life

  • Funded cascading garden for SE corner of Grant and Inglewood.

  • Maintained and grew our pallet shelter site that has helped the City reach Functional Zero homelessness.

  • Initiated, and successfully campaigned for a $28 million reconstruction of Fire Station 2 on Grant Avenue.

  • Andrews Park: resurfaced playground with new shade structure; first neighborhood dog run, exercise equipment funded.

  • Perry Park: resurfaced playground; resurfaced sportcourt for pickleball and basketball; new, often used skate features; resodding Perry Park field (Dec. 2024); prompt graffiti removal; interior and exterior renovation of Teen Center.

  • Funded litigation preparation against LA County Metro re C-Line Extension down Metro ROW.

  • Converting Wiley Sump to Wiley Nature Preserve with observation deck and educational features.

 

Artesia & Aviation Boulevards

  • $450,000 appropriated for ART on ARTesia, with another half million planned.

  • Increased floor area ratio (FAR) limit of 60%, soon to increase to 150%, to attract new development.
